Breaching the code

Due to two recent incidents, I would appreciate people not copying my ideas. I thought there was an unwritten rule about this and although I have read mentions of this on other peoples blogs, I never thought it would happen to me. I now understand how they felt and how it kind of takes away a piece of you.. I have had two experiences where I have wanted to make something (and then change it to suit my style of work ) that I have seen someone else do, but I spoke to them about it first and in one case I even got written permission. I hate to talk about this and cant believe it's happened... but you need to be aware of it going on and you maybe the next one it effects.

I'm sure a good night sleep is what I need now, Going to Ipswich tomorrow to take my things to Handmade Heaven .

Yes I agree... after ALL the hardwork that Mum puts in with her ideas and creativity it is all snatched away by people who obviously don't have that creativity and need to use someone elses...

Love ya work Mum.

That really sucks Mum...I hope that this person realises what they have done and retracts their items or even recognises and apologises. I know that you have asked permission from people before and been told that it is ok...it is nice to see people doing the right thing.

That's awful!! It must be really hard to cope with!
I have made things and goone exploring the web and found items that are disturbingly like mine, but i don't know if is because with jewellery, ideas can be very similar, but it still makes you feel a little off. I hope those people don't think I have copied them as I never do. But with YOUR line of work, it is so unique, it would be obvious to you if someone was copying!!
Hope they wise up and stop!!
Best of luck,
Brenda.

My mom told me a long time ago that when someone copies you or mimicks you, it is the highest form of flattery! It is still a hard pill to swallow though, I know. I would hope that we could all just inspire one another and we could all just feed off each other's creativity and have a ball doing it. Your items are just beautiful and you know I LOVE chenille!! Chin UP!!

This does suck and I hope that you have confronted the culprit directly. I never reveal my ideas until they are "out there". That way people know that everybody else is just copying you. There's no other real protection for us.

Creating handmade things is a really personal expression, isn't it? I think that is why it feels so yucky when people don't respect that. Hope it eases up. Lisa. x

That's terrible.
I know I have abandoned ideas when I realized other people had a similar product. I hope you contacted them to let them know, you know.
Sometimes people may just be oblivious to how similar their work is to others, but sometimes they quite obviously steal ideas. either way they should know that they've offended you.
