September Handmade Expo

I have been so slack and not posting about Saturdays successful Handmade Expo, Where does the time go ?
What a great day it was. Other than the dreadful wind, the school holidays, Carnival of Flowers, the NRL semi final and the AFL Grand Final to contend with we had nearly 900 people through the gates which we are absolutely over the moon with.
We were so flat out all day that we all forgot to pull out our cameras...
The majority of stallholders that we spoke to during the day had a great day and great trade. Bubba was buzzing with lots of refered customers and regulars too. ( thanks to all of you who keep me going every month )
We also welcomed 120 stallholders, so the Expo is expanding every month which is just fabulous and we really want to grow our Gourmet Fresh section so please, if you know any farmers out there looking to sell their produce please ask them to contact us - they are always welcome. Even if they only grow one variety of something, they can fill their ute and drive on in ! (after they've booked in of course ! )
We welcomed back Farmer Dave with his lamb, and also Mrs K's Cafe & Bakery selling bread and slices.
Don't forget we have stalls ranging from fabulous cupcakes and coffee to kids clothing, accessories, plants, timber products, jewellery and much more.
The next Expo will be held on Saturday 17th October, Ipswich Turf Club from 8am to 2pm with adults $2 and kids free.
October we are welcoming a Guiness World Record challenge which needs your help. A minimum of 1500 people are required to break the World Record of doing "Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes"... if you know how to do this make sure you come to the Expo and be part of the World Record. This is going to be so much fun and something a bit different for a Saturdays outing !
We would love to hear about your experience at The Handmade Expo so feel free to blog about us. It would also be great if you could blog about the upcoming Expo in October... word of mouth is fabulous and it would be great to have help from everyone in blogland.

I'll be having a giveaway in the next couple of days, it's for my one year blogaversary and you're going to love it so make sure you check back in a few days!

New Bag

I thought I'd lost this photo of a new bag I made for this weekends Handmade Expo, yay I found it, ( I knew the gremlins couldn't have got very far with it !)

It's made from vintage chenille, vintage handles and even the lining of the pocket is made with fabric from a vintage sheet. 100 percent recycled! ( except for the thread that sews it together !)

I hope someone likes it !

I made a skirt too and this is a sneek peek of the pocket, all vintage ofcourse!

It is living at Handmade Heaven at the moment, it will be going to The Handmade Expo if it's still there on Satuday!

a gorgeous giveaway

Look who I met.

Back from an awesome day at the Street party in Hamilton on Sunday. There were many highlights for me and although my daughter took most of the photos on her camera, ( which I will source later ) there were a couple of pics on my camera when I looked this morning.

Liesa, Micky and I had a great day out manning the bubbachenille stall and meeting lots of creative people from Brisstyle and sampling their wares too I might add!

I had the immense pleasure of reaquainting myself with Queen Elizabeth of Ascot and meeting her deputy Shirley too!

On on off thoughout the day we were constantly terrified by the dinasaur..

Thanks to the Brisstyle team who got us together and organised a great market day for us all.

Nanna Technology Project

This post I read on the one of the blogs I follow called All Toile and No Reward and was inspired by it, why not check out the link to nannatechnology ?

Calling all Nannas!
The NannaTechnology Project starts today- living simply for our future Spring has sprung and there is no better time to launch the NannaTechnology Project. With spring comes light and growth and the urge to get active again after months of hibernation- perfect for launching a project which aims to bring people together, and learn and share the skills from our Nannas across the country. The NannaTechnology Project is all about living simply for our future.

Today we no longer have to knit late at night, garden when nobody is looking and pretend not to enjoy baking. From today we can celebrate the skills we have learnt from our Nannas and share them with others who also enjoy them.

The NannaTechnology Project shines the spotlight on a silent movement emerging in our communities. The return of homemade, handmade, knowing your neighbours, growing your own and slowing down. NannaTechnology represents a lifestyle that is better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet.

The NannaTechnology Project is harvesting Nanna's wisdom, experience and skills to create a new wave of Nannas. The Project identifies the skill-set we need for our future and is now actively seeking them from Nannas across the country. These skills will be matched with a new generation of Nannas and distributed far and wide to be shared with anyone who is seeking a simpler, healthier life.

Visit the shiny new website

Its starts with the website that brings together people and organisations living the Nanna lifestyle and Nannas across the country to share and swap information, tools, tips, tricks, recipes and thoughts on how to live a simpler, more sustainable life.It will evolve as Nannas young and old bring their wisdom to the project - so we need you.It is split into sections to capture the skills we are seeking - Cook - Grow - Clean - Save - Make - Live
Check it out - www.nannatechnology.com.au.

The Spring Harvest - harvesting Nanna's tips, tricks and stories

Chat with your Nanna over a cup of tea, cook with your Nanna, plant seedlings with your Nanna, stroll with you Nanna, learn from her and we'd love you to share this with us. Send stories, recipes, photos and snippets of information to info@nannatechnology.com.au.

Bring a Friend - the more the merrier

We want to grow our contact list to spread Nanna's skills and wisdom far and wide so forward this email to anyone seeking a simpler, healthier and more sustainable life.
All they need to do it email their contact details to: info@nannatechnology.com.au.
Why NannaTechnology - how the project came to beThe NannaTechnology project grew from a group of young women realising that they were becoming a Nanna ahead of their time and loving it. They found by taking time to smell the roses, learning to garden, bake and cook and learning to make stuff, it made them happy. It was a much needed escape from an ever busier world. And they weren’t alone. By embracing their inner Nanna and telling others about it, there were many more Nannas just waiting to be unleashed.

Let the cooking, growing, cleaning, saving, making and living begin!
Miriam
